Mumu vs Vevela

I keep mixing up mumu and vevela, I think mumu is red and vevela is hot, is that right?

Tālofa. Yes that is correct :) Mūmū can also describe warmth in terms of body heat and redness from blushing, but vevela is the standard word for hot.

Malo. Say Lanu before saying the colour. “Lanu mumu” that mean “colour red” cause Mumu has other meanings. Same with some of the other colours too. Moana means sea/ ocean “lanu moana” translates to “colour Blue”. But when spoken “Lanu mumu technically is like saying red in English..

Yeah, I always remember to say ‘‘O se tusi lanu mumu’’ in my head to practice. Helps me keep the word order right. My kids laugh when I get mix-up but I tell them, ‘‘Ua ou vaivai i le manatua!’’ How do you remember all these colours?

I get mixed up too. I know we learned 'O le ta'avale mūmū in one of the units and that was just red car, not colour red car.
